The Never Ending Saga of the Primary Bedroom Closet

Image
Guys, this is the space that will never be finished it seems.  I wrote a post about the "finished" closet in May of 2020.  That's probably the 3rd or 4th update on this space.  It's one of the two closets in my primary bedroom.  The one that I use.  The one that is the most awkwardly laid out.  It started out as this when the house was built.   Actually this was AFTER  I changed out the light to that chandelier.  But basically the same.  One wire shelf in each of the 3 nooks in the closet.   I ripped up the carpet and laid LVP flooring.  Then took out those god awful shelves, painted, added new hanging bars to the left and right sides and then created shoe shelves  and a hanging rod for longer clothes on the back nook.  The shoe shelves have remained the same since doing that but I did change up the right side by adding some of those prefab closet organizers and then the back part I added 2 of them as well.   That photo isn't a good representation.  There is anoth

My New Tornado Room

Image
Never in a million years did I think I'd be writing a post about creating a tornado room in my house.  Welcome to the Midwest I guess.  Thankfully, I've never had the need to use a tornado room.  But at least now, I have one and feel a bit more comfortable that it's there.  Moreso, my parents feel more comfortable.  I used to joke to my mother that my couch was the most comfortable place to be in a tornado in my house.  I wasn't going to cram myself into a coat closet and be uncomfortable if I was about to be sucked up into the sky.  I'd make sure I had a margarita in one hand and Janie in the other while we sat under a fur blanket on the couch waiting for it to get us.  I mean, I'm kidding.  But I really didn't have anywhere "safe" to go, so the couch seemed like the logical place to me.   Since I have lived in Indiana over the last 14 years, we have had a few tornados touch down within miles of my house but again, thankfully, not in my neighborho

Pantry Refresh and a Few Other Small Projects

One would think by now that I'd learn to get my projects done prior to the start of football season.  But no, every year at this time it seems like I have a laundry list of things I want to get done before the end of the year.  So I work 6 days a week and then on my free Saturday I spend it in the garage building something or have a room or two in my house that is a disaster zone.  Poor Janie.  Always having to be jumping over boxes to go outside and potty.  She'll get over it.   First lets start with something that I did a handful of months ago but just never showed any of you.  Remember in December when my step-dad was making all of those beautiful charcuterie boards?  Well I took home two of them for myself.  They are gorgeous.  I love them.  But they didn't deserve to just lean on the wall on top of the counter.  I wanted to display them.  I just couldn't find a spot that fit or made sense in my kitchen area.   One day scrolling through FB one of those reels popped
