More Bed Swapping

So I teased out a picture the other day- did you see it?  Did you make any guesses as to what it was going to end up?  Some of the guesses were pretty hilarious!

Well here is what it turned into.....

A Little Bed Swapping

I typed that post title and realized it sounds a lot kinkier than it really is.  Heeeeeeeey boys!  I bet I'll get some pervs searching Google and will come up with that title and they'll be all excited when they click the link only to find out this is a post about change out beds, not the people who are in them.  Sorry to disappoint.  Freaks.  Anyway- on to the bed swapping.

So first thing this morning I tackled taking apart the bed in the back spare room.  This room was the room that I stayed in for the first year + after buying this house.  So it technically was the first room done.  But even though it was "done" it was NOT to my liking.  It was super boring.  I never had a problem falling asleep in this room because it was such a snoozefest.

I keep the doors closed to the two spare bedrooms so that I don't pay to heat or cool them since no one stays in them.  So I didn't really mind at first just how ugly it was.  But since I started adding some pops of bright color into the upstairs it just didn't fit with the rest of the house.  Here are a couple of before photos.

Blah blah and more blah.  As you can tell from the top photo the room is very small and it always felt like the minute you walked into the room the foot board was right there to greet you and take your shins out.  It's not a true sleigh bed but it does have the curve to it so I knew that if I removed the bed I'd gain about10 extra inches of floor space.

I talked about the spare fabric headboard I had hanging out in the closet.  I had started to recover it with a tan fabric since when I bought it- it was a horrific burgundy color.  I got almost done with that project and decided that I didn't really like it that much so back into the closet it went.  Until a few days ago!

Here it is before I started working on it last weekend.

When Life Hands You Lemons- Tequila Shots Anyone?

This weekend I knocked another project off of the To Do List.  This one I've been wanting to do for quite some time- but just haven't found the right fabric for it.  So it sat and sat and sat.  Until a series of unfortunate events happened.

It all started when Miss Wendy and I went shopping and I found this super cute duvet cover.

{My apologies to Colin & Justin for what is coming next}

I was just planning on swapping out the pink accents with some sort of bright green.  Except I couldn't find green anything- anywhere.  UGH.  So this sat on the bed for weeks.

Snoooooooooozefest.  Booooooooooring. Laaaaaaaaaaaaame.  It did come with pillow shams but those were being used for something else when I took this picture.  Just wait.  You'll see in a minute.  With the tan walls and gray bedding this room definitely needed a pop of color.  But there was just something about this duvet that wasn't sitting right with me.  I loved the look of it on the package- but in the room?  Not so much.  I mean, I loved the bold graphic print.  I loved the color.  But it was just not tickling my fancy. I think it was because I knew I'd have to paint the walls over cuz the tan did not go good with the gray.  I was fine painting the walls again but then realized that I'd have another gray room upstairs and that is what I didn't want to happen.  Two spare rooms, the bathroom right outside of them and the upstairs TV room that would all be the same color and that wasn't what I wanted.  So I decided to return the duvet and keep looking.  Except I did something I've never done before.  I lost the damn receipt.  Muther Chucker!  But before I could get too pissed- a light bulb went on in my head.  See- that probably wasn't event a minute.  Unless you read like a first grader.  Let's go to the front spare room for a second.

Happy 2nd Blogiversary and Other Junk

Hi All!!  So last week marked the 2nd year anniversary of me starting Girl With The Pink Toolbelt.  Crazy how some days it seems like it was just yesterday that I designed the blog and wrote my first post and then other times it seems like I've totally run out of shit to talk about.  Who knows how long I will keep these shenanigans up- could be another year or 10.  I guess as long as you are all still reading I will keep posting!  Believe me, I have plenty of projects coming down the pipeline that I'm sure you are just on the edge of your seats waiting for.  Sarcasm at it's finest there.  I was actually talking to my dad tonight about his ever growing list of things to do when he comes out again (possibly this summer!) so this mama either needs to get a 2nd job to save up some money or I'm going to have to pimp myself out on the weekends.  I'm not a fan of fishnets and pleather.  Just sayin.  One of the two big projects will be either the wood floors in the entire lower levels of the house or the patio in the back yard.  Decisions decisions.

Anyway- onto some really random shit.  You might have seen the Valentine's wreath that I made on Super Bowl Sunday if we are friends on Facebook.  If you already saw this- tough shit.  Suck it up.

I purchased 3 shades of felt form JoAnn's and it was a little under $4 for all 3 colors.

Quickie Art Update

Happy Weekend bitches!!!  I woke up this morning totally thinking is was Sunday since I had yesterday off. That was a lovely surprise when I realized it was only Saturday and I had another day to get some quick projects done.  Woot woot!!

I spent most of yesterday out of my house because I was about to go stir crazy.  So when going crazy- what else is there to do but go shopping!  I actually had to return the leftover sheets of tile so I did that first then headed to Marshall's and HomeGoods.  I found some pillows on clearance 2 for $12 so I picked up two sets of them not really caring what they looked like since odds are I'll eventually recover them anyway.  Here's what they look like.

But boy was I surprised when I got them home and walked upstairs to throw them into my spare master closet.  The purple TOTALLY matched the purple in the upstairs TV room.  Shut the front door!  I've been trying to find more purple to get that color a little more dominant in the room and haven't had any luck.  So without even thinking about it or trying to find it I totally scored!  Sweet.  What do you think??
