Rap Song Art? Why Not!

If you haven't figured it out by now, I like to make my own art.  My apartment in FL had a collage of 4 canvases that I painted,  My current house is smorgasbord of painted art and DIY calendar art along with some real art to make me not look crazy poor.  It's all about the image people.

A while back I was flipping through a bunch of home magazine and I found this image-

I believe it is from HGTV magazine but I'm not all that positive since months have passed since I snapped the pic.  Can you tell what I immediately fell in love with?  And no- it's not the leopard print pillow.  Although it does match the undies that I'm wearing.  Roarrrr.....

Got Paint?

Actually, the post title should be "Got Bored?"  Because when I get bored, apparently I find something to paint.  And I painted something yesterday.  Woot woot!  When I should have been doing my laundry.  So here's my not-so-sincere apology to my co-workers for maybe possibly smelling today at work since I didn't get a chance to wash my clothes.  My bad.  At least I brought cupcakes.

So I enter my house through my garage, into the laundry room and then into the kitchen.  My "front door" is my garage door.  Kinda not a pretty sight to come home to.  Especially when your garage is full of junk that's not pretty- no matter how many times I've written to companies to make prettier tools.  One just can't make a lawn mower and shovel look sexy.  Unless you are standing naked next to it.  Which I'm not.

Then to top it off, when I signed off on the house, it came with an "unfinished" garage.  So what they mean by unfinished, is "we won't fill the nail holes, sand down the putty that we slapped on the drywall, paint the door moldings or clean up the boot marks and writing that we scribbled all over the drywall when get got tired and drank beers in your new home instead of spending the time to level the walls."   You know- exactly what "unfinished" means to everyone.

So while the plan down the line is to prime and paint the inside of the garage and make it a little more aesthetically pleasing to my eyes when I come home, I had to at least do something simple to make a big difference.  Therefore, I pulled out the paint can yesterday.  I've made the laundry room quite a bit prettier since moving in- taking out the boob light and replacing it with a chandelier, building new shelves, painting the walls a light blue.....  But something was still missing- especially from the outside.

Putting Things On The Walls

Well hello!  Do you remember me?  I used to run a blog about my house.  But apparently I go on vacation and forget about it for a month.  Oopsie.  It really has more to do with the fact that I haven't done shit in my house rather than going on vacation.  But I'll certainly let the trip take the fall.

When I finally finished unpacking (I won't even tell you how long it took me to do that- lazy) I was putting my suitcase back into the spare master bedroom closet and noticed all of the "stuff" that is just sitting in there waiting to be placed somewhere in the house.  There's artwork, decor, pillows, picture frames, dvd players, old cell phones, 3 laundry baskets and so much more CRAP!  It totally irritated me that the one piece of art that I bought way back when was still sitting there so I did something about it- right then and there!   I definitely showed it who was boss.  I took it out of the closet and leaned it against one of the bedroom walls. Where it sat for another week. See- lazy.

Today I finally hung it up.  Along with a few other things.  Mind you- some of this stuff I bought when I lived in Florida.  Eight years ago.  And it's yet to be hung up.  Ridiculous- that's my middle name.  The funny thing is- almost every room in my house is fully decorated with so much personality.  Except for my bedroom.  So boring.  Recently I changed the duvet cover to add some color in there.  But other than that- it has ZERO personality whatsoever.  It's got such beautiful furniture.  It just needs to be decorated.  Hopefully the things I did this morning will get me going with this room- seeing as though it's MY PERSONAL SPACE.  You would think that I would have been all over this room by now.  Nope.  It's blah.
