Baby Got Back(splash)!

Before I left for MA for the holidays, I happened upon some glass tile on a random shopping trip at the home improvement store.  What?  You all don't have random shopping trips to home improvement stores?  I call bullshit.  Anyhoo- I ran home and measured how much square footage my kitchen back splash was then headed back over to pick up 20 sheets.  It was on-sale for $4.44 a square foot which is SUPER cheap since they are typically more in the $9-12 range.  This is what it looks like. The lightest color of the three is almost the exact same color of my kitchen wall paint.  I was going to hold off on installing a back splash until I decided if I was going to change my counters- which would have been years down the road because my counters- although laminate- aren't actually that bad looking.  So I didn't want to spend money on a back splash if I was going to have to remove it or have it get damaged by replacing the counters.  But for under $100 I decided to change my m

Project List For 2013

So I figured making a list of what I'd like to accomplish this year for the house would kick me in the butt to get on the projects that I'd really like to get done rather than jumping from room to room finding random shit to do just to fill time.  Here goes: Install tile back splash in kitchen Have the tile- now just have to learn how to do it and get 'er done!! Remove carpet from stairs and refinish treads and backer boards Hoping that the treads are pine or better so I can sand them down and stain them to match the railings and spindles then paint or do some sort of treatment to the backer boards Find vintage ornate mirror for bathroom If I can find 2 then all the better- but definitely have an idea in mind for the upstairs pink and gray bathroom Install wood/cork flooring in main floor Need to do a lot of research and find a good deal cuz I've got a LOT of square footage downstairs!  And that shit ain't cheap! Find and refinish an antique piece

Well I started off the New Year being very productive! If you forget the sleeping until noon part of it.  Whatevs.  Being back in my bed was just too damn amazing and it was too comfortable to get out of. So do you remember back when I bought my new duvet cover for a steal over Thanksgiving weekend?  And how I needed to purchase some throw pillows to go with it? Reminder of the beautifulness is below. {not my room- clearly too pristine} Remember how I wasn't going to pay $25-30 per pillow that came with the set?  Yeah- cheers to being cheap!  Fiscal Cliff my ass.  Just be frugal people.  Seriously.  Well.... I had an epiphany one day perusing the aisles of WalMart.  What?  You don't have epiphanies there?  Just me? One of the duvets that I was going to make before finding this one was going to be made out of some of their sheets and I remembered the color of one set was VERY similar to the aqua in the duvet I just purchased.  So I headed over to the home section and
