Getting Rid of the Boobs

Image
Woah now.  Simmer down, boys.  This isn't that kind of blog.  The girls are still intact and as perky as ever.  Gravity hasn't taken full effect just yet.  Anyway, enough about my lady humps.  Sorry that you had to read any of that, Dad. This post pertains to those awful boob lights that seem to be all the rave with the builders these days.   Ew.  There it is- in all it's shiny brassy glory.  There were 4 of them in the house when I moved in.  First thing I did was take them down and spray then oil rubbed bronze- to as least make them fractionally less hideous. The last remaining two in the house are at the top and bottom of the stairs. I've searched all over for new lights to no avail.  Until I found The One in Lowe's about a month ago.  Unfortunately they only had one, not two in stock.  So I passed.  In the meantime, I found a cute lamp shade on clearance at Target that I picked up, thinking tha...

Nothing Subtle About This Color

Image
Lately I've been seeing a lot of photos with either bookcases or closets with bold pops of color on the back.  And I've totally fallen in love with that idea.  I knew the exact place I wanted to do this- since I don't have any bookcases that would work to do it on.  My upstairs linen closet. My goal in the next couple of months is to get rid of the wire shelves in my house.  Every.  Last.  One.  Of.  Them.   Last Friday I had the day off so I headed to the store to get supplies.  The flyer had 6 ft. white boards for $9.99 with a $9 rebate per board.  So basically I paid $.99 per board.  Score.  I picked up 6 of them on that trip.  And some pink paint.  Holla!

It's Raining Lights!

Hi All!! Did you have a relaxing Labor Day weekend?  I was so lazy.  I'm not even going to lie.  Saturday I didn't get out of bed until 5pm.  Not.  Kidding.  I mean, I wasn't sleeping the entire time.  I woke up at 9:30am and started reading one of my new books.  It got good so I kept reading.  Before I knew it I was halfway through.  So why stop then?  Anywho- 8 hours later I finally made it downstairs to get some breakfast- I mean dinner.  Told you.  Lazy. But I made up for it Sunday and today.  I went running and started two of the new 30 day workout challenges.  It's a new group that I joined.  They already did one of these last month so I'm doubling up and doing this months- Ab & Squat Challenge along with last months- Arms Challenge.  It's been fun so far- you know- all two days of it.  Then I added in to Sexy Dance workout on demand and let me tell you.  There's a whole lot of se...

Seeing The Light(s)

Image
One of the other big projects, that I didn't think was going to be that big my bad , was adding additional lights in my workshop/garage.  There was a single light bulb towards the house door and lights on the garage door opener that were motion censored.  But other than that, there were no other lights.   Most of the time when I’m in the garage I’m either painting or staining and opening the garage door is a big no no when doing that because you don’t want stuff blowing into it and sticking to your freshly painted/stained furniture.  Oh and there’s nothing like mid-paint stroke the lights going off because it didn't sense you in there so you have to do a dance and jump around to get the lights to turn back on.  Yes- this happens.  A LOT.  Don’t mind the crazy girl getting high off paint fumes.  I was chatting on the phone a few months ago with my Daddy-O, when I brought up this problem.  I had seen in the Menards flyer those long flore...

So You Want To Do A Paver Patio???

Image
While it’s technically not “done” done, I’m putting this one in the bag.  Who wants to hear about the worst project ever?  You all should send a big thank you for my father not disowning me while you are at it.  I honestly didn't think it’d be as bad as it was.  I mean, HGTV gets it done in a 30 minute show.  With commercials for crying out loud!!  Just kidding.  I’m not that stupid.     Anyway- let’s talk patio.  Some of you might have seen this photo already.  But this is what was delivered to my house Saturday morning.  At 8am.  My neighbors LOVED me.  Thank god they delivered!   First, let’s start with the basics.  I ordered 263 pavers that were 16 in X 16 in, 154 bags of gravel, 154 bags of sand, and 12 bags of polymeric sand- per the instructions on the virtual patio designer at Menards.  It was going to be roughly 500 additional square feet added on to my existing concrete patio. ...

There Must Be Something About This Color

Image
I've done it again.  I think I need more friends because it seems when I have down time, I paint things. If you haven't noticed, I paint a lot- therefore I apparently have no friends.  So painting is what I did yesterday.  At least this was something that was kind of necessary.  Since I went and screwed the piece up by doing another project way back when. Let's start with this.  You remember my cute little pedestal table in my kitchen, right?  Don't mind the old photos.  There are no pumpkins currently on the table.  I'm not that crazy. OK- while I was staining my new laundry room shelves however many months ago, I somehow got splatters of stain all over the top of this table.  Which, as you can see, is no where near the laundry room or the shelves that actually got the stain.  Apparently I'm super talented like that. After I finally realized that the stain got on the table top, well after it was dried of course, I knew I nee...

All You Need Is Love

I really haven't been in the mood for any big projects lately.  Not sure if it's that I don't have anything to change up or I'm just enjoying the calm before the storm of El Nino Patio.  Either way, I've been a total bum around the house lately.  However, as I'm typing this I'm thinking about what I can to do this table of mine that I messed up the top on.  Hmmmmm..... There are a couple of things that I've done though- but don't go getting all excited.  They really aren't all that awesome.   First up I did a little reuse, re-purpose, re-whatever.  Remember that horrific wire shelf in the laundry room? Well I decided that instead of just leaning up against the garage wall, maybe it'd be better served being attached to it.  So mama got out the drill and made it happen. And yes- I'm busted.  Totally haven't painted the garage yet.  It's hot as balls people.  I cut myself some slack on that one. Next up you might have ...
